On December 18, 2024, ROYS GLOBAL CO., LTD, in collaboration with SEGAFREDO, organized a meaningful donation event at 44 Street 352, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Over 60 elderly cyclo drivers were honored and provided with essential support, including clothing, food, and financial aid.
The cyclo, a traditional three-wheeled bicycle rickshaw, has long been a symbol of Cambodia’s cultural identity. However, many cyclo drivers today are elderly men who come from distant provinces and face significant hardships, often lacking stable accommodations.
Long Sokhuy, head of the Cambodia Cyclo Association, noted, “There are currently about 400 cyclo drivers in Phnom Penh. Most of them are elderly and unable to take on other work.”
At ROYS GLOBAL CO., LTD, we are committed to giving back to underprivileged communities. This initiative reflects our dedication to uplifting elderly cyclo drivers, whose lives and experiences offer a valuable connection to Cambodia’s rich history.
“Talking with these individuals allows us to step into their world and appreciate their unique stories and past experiences. It broadens our perspective and gives us a deeper understanding of their journeys,” shared a representative of the charity team.
